Drive in the streets of Cuba....in a 1950 convertible chevrolet!Imagine yourself in the streets of Havana, with a big Cuban cigar in your mouth, in a 1950 classic convertible Chevy admiring a city of historic turbulence, yet so captivating that you want this moment ton ever end?... When you first arrive in Cuba the first thing you realize is as if time has ceased running since 1950. Due to a four decade of US imposed trade embargo on Cuba, you have a chance to see 1950’s Hudsons, Edsels and Chevys still chug the streets of Havana. Since for many years these American cars have repeatedly been fixed up (because they have no other alternatives) and had many parts “ handily” replaced from other brands, auto-repair shops and auto repairers are substantial for Cuba. So what did we do? We did not imagine but we really drove a 1950 convertible Chevy, with a big Cuban cigar in our mouth and roamed the streets of Havana. There was one place called that we drove through, called the Malecon strip, where you drive beside the ocean. Whats particular about this beautiful scenery is that big waves hit the streets while you are driving and no walls or preventive barriers have been built to avoid this…… it is one of the fun things for Cubans, to be soaked with frequent waves from the Malecon shore. After our memorable drive, we visited an auto repair shop and learnt how these handy people made it possible for the Cubans to use these antiquitities as their only means of transport with no problems.
