Hong Kong is one of the worlds major film exporters and producers in 2002 and 2003, Hong Kong priduced 79 films and about HK $ 437 million of exports of films in the form of videotapes, DVDS and other compact discs.
Hong Kong has many talented directors, actors, writers, producers and technical crews who are acknowledged throughout the world as hardworking enthusiastic and innovative professionals. The Hong Kong film industry offers a wide range of film production and post-production services and facilities.
Not only does the action film industry in Hong Kong constitute a major source of income but it has also provided the international film sector with unforgettable names such as Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li and cult director John Woo.
How about visiting an actual film set where action is at its peak?..
During our visit to the set, we find ourselves in a scene where the bad
guys ( or gangsters in this case) chase the good guys. A lot of bullets
in the air, fighting, and people jumping or falling from high altitudes.
Of course, all of this done without getting a scratch thanks to professional stuntsmen provided by the Hong Kong Stuntsmen Association lead by Mr Bruce Law, who not only coordinates the stuntmen provision for such films but also trains the lead actors.
In Hong Kong, it is a must that lead actors must be trained in Stunstmen Tranining Centers before they even start their careers as actors, because most of the time they are required to play their action scenes themselves.
After our conversation with Mr Bruce Law, its was imperative that we should also have an actual feeling of what it is like to be a stuntsman. Well.. Mr Bruce Law took us to his company and training center and showed us some little tricks very commonly seen in many action movies.
It is quite interesting to have your arm set in fire and not feel a thing ( yet the scare is the same)
And.. it is more interesting to see how a man gets shot out from a bomb-blast with the help of a device that creates a cannon-ball effect.
One of the prominent names of action-films that Hong Kong has introduced to the international sector is Jackie Chan, who has shot his new film in Istanbul.
