Watch the dawn in Varanasi (INDIA)

Do you find yourself saying ‘Isn’t this the same sun rising everyday for millions of years. What’s so special about it?’ Well, you’ll find out that you’re wrong when you see the dawn in Varanasi.

Varanasi is one of the oldest cities in the World: around 2000 years old settled in the banks of the holy Ganges River. Hindus alike believe that to bathe in the River Ganges is to cleanse ones soul and all try to make the pilgramage during their lives. Elderly people come to Varanasi to die and have their bodies cremated and floated away down the River.

If you wake up around 4 am, go to the ghats situated just beside the river, and hire a local boat, you’ll understand exactly what we are talking about. Pre-dawn boatride on the Ganges as multitudes of pilgrims descend to the holy waters to perform their ritual immersion and prayers at the Ghats and the hundreds of colours the sky takes are definitely worth witnessing.
