Sand boarding in the dessert (NAMIBIA)
We’re used to board in the sea and snow. Even the air. But what about the sand? Sand boarding is an exceptional sensation.
If you are to visit Namibia don’t forget to step your foot on Elim’s Dune. Or forget about stepping your foot.

Probably the biggest attraction of sand boarding is the relative ease of learning. An absolute beginner will pick it up with in a day, with the right instructor. …. And of course the right chasing dog…..: ) . Turns, small jumps and high speed are common place on the first day. After a few more sessions the rider will start pushing the limits with big spray curves, free style jumps and radical 180's and 360 aerials. The speed can even reach 75km/h.
The beauty about sand boarding is contrary to popular belief, the sand boarding is not abrasive. Thus short and T-Shirt is all you need. Keep the front of the board up with the help of your hands. Anf if you want speed: Lift up your feet a bit higher. No padding and no extreme weather gear is necessary. The worst that can happen is that one will walk away from a spill a little more sandy. The taste of the sand? Get used to it , in the first slides….
