Trek in the Himalayas (NEPAL)In our journey from Katmandu to the Khumbu region of east Nepal where the foot of the world’s highest peak Mt. Everest is, we discovered that Nepal is a trekkers paradise. There is something for everyone, magnificent snow summits, ridges carpeted in alpine flowers, Forest of Rhododendrons, small mountain towns, birds, animals, temples, monasteries and many different cultures within the journey. Trekking season starts in Nepal from October and November and trekkers are advised to definitely take with them a professional guide. And do not forget, you must be good in handling yaks and mules for they are great help in carrying your trekking equipment. Musts in trekking equipmentYou may be able to find most of the trekking equipment necessary in Katmandu, but you will notice that most equipment is second hand used before hand by other trekking groups. However, your trek outfitter will normally provide two person waterproof tents, foam mattresses, and all cooking and eating utensils, sleeping bags. You will need your own warm clothing, walking shoes, sleeping bag and personal equipment. During the day you will carry your camera, jacket, and water bottle in a rucksack. You will not need any climbing equipment such as ropes, ice axe, or crampons at any time during the trek. What was so magical about our journey was the many things to discover during it such as the native people from diverse ethnic groups with rich cultural traditions. One of the very interesting things we discovered in the Khumbu region, was that villagers played a game with stones, similar to what we call pool. In fact we may call this very popular game the Nepalese pool as it has similar rules and is equally enjoyable. Our advice is that don’t miss this unique event in which anyone who is sound and healthy with the spirit for adventure to explore the exotic can experience. What better than an anti-ageing and rejuvenating experience to the highest place on earth? Nepal Tours | |||
