Hand made floating Islands of Uros (PERU)

There is nothing more handier than a man building his own house.... how about a man building his own island with his own house on top and as if were not enough building his own transport vehicle too?...

The inhabitants of Uros in the lake of Titicaca, live on an island made of piles of reeds, an on these islands they built their homes out of reeds and they also build their boats out of reeds all by themselves. But most interesting of all , these handy people build their most substantial belongings with gusto.

Particularly their reed-boats which the plastic is bound withing the reeds are shaped as heads of different animals, and their habitat show individual taste with reed being shaped in decorative shapes.

We discovered the decorative side of the Uros people because they practice traditional crafts; besides living and fishing on the lake.

Tourists are only really welcomed on a couple of islands, where islanders adopt a fairly "hard sell" approach, offering their handicrafts.Visitors also have to be careful that they don't stand still in one place for too long to avoid slipping through the reeds!

So we discovered that not only are they handy but they the talent to aesthetize reeds as no decorator would.
