Visit the pow pow Indian Festival
Get a sensation of what the USA was like before the white men landed.
In certain periods of the year and in almost every state and city in the USA the Pow Wow American Indian festival is celebrated, where American Indians from all across the USA and Canada too, gather up to experience the beauty and the passion of the pounding Indian drums, music and dancing and many other traditional activities.
The Pow Wow festival in USA was a spectacle, where we walked through the tipi village with tipi styles and watched demonstrations such as flint napping, pottery making, weaving baskets and primitive tool technology.
We had an opportunity to see Indian Arts and craftswork such as pottery, intricately designed jewellery and leather goods. It was all very fascinating until the shows began, The Pow Wow attracts some of the best Indian dancers from throughout USA and we had a chance to watch these high energy dancers circle around to the beat of the drum.
The drum, which has been described as a heartbeat, calls the dancers from children to elders into the circle. With skill and splendor, the dancers enjoy song, togetherness, and their traditions. Everyone, including those in the audience, is welcome to take part in intertribal dancing but will want a good seat to watch and appreciate the competition dancing.
The most impressive part of the Pow Wow were the Indian warriors on horseback battling to the Shield Dance, paying homage to their lost ones in war.
It was spectacular to enjoy and rejoice in an American Indian festival that had preserved all its cultural qualities no matter how much they had once been repressed by the white men….
